Back in 2004 I only had my good camera for a few months, I was more into drinking and partying than taking pictures of trains and my photography skills were limited. But sometimes I parked in the right spot at the right time and managed to capture something half decent - I heard a rail grinder was coming so I went to ayr excited but not before two trains - this - and the Ham Turn would go by. This over time has become the much better catch :) A former SOO SD40-2 lacking in dynamic brakes. One can also see the large elevator complex that once sat at this site. here's what's left of it now - not much!

  1. Great leader, even for 2004.

  2. Very nice Steve. Classic for us young-ins on here :) I was relatively new to photography at this time too. I did more video-taping than photography actually. My biggest mistake with that was missing shots of the CSX SD70ACes on GEXR 432, and a 7-unit GP lash-up on 432 with 100+ cars entering Kitchener! All in 2004…boy I regret that now. This spot was definitely my go-to spot on CP…I just started driving on my own at this time as well. I was so innocent at that time :)

  3. Yeah sweet leader there. I really miss the backdrop in Ayr the elevators and buildings provided. You can’t even really shoot here now with the construction and fencing they put up.
