You were lucky to enjoy 25 mph. When I left Chetwynd in 1975 or 1976 the track speed was 10 mph from Fort Saint John (90 miles) to Beatton the crew change point. The track speed was even worse north of Beatton.
There was a story during track construction north that a sectionman had had enough of the Roadmaster harrasing them to work harder. The fellow threw a lining bar at the Roadmaster, narrowly missing him and the lining bar fell into the Beatton River. The fellow was fired for “destroying company property”….
