hahahah!!! But this is a great photo regardless.
I don’t believe that’s the biggest Trackmobile either, a Trackmobile Atlas ballasted to 80 tons can probably haul even more as they have done at Stelco in Hamilton.
Great picture Rob. What’s really great is that this remnant of CN Burford Sub is still in operation !
If a track mobile makes economical sense allowing this rail operation to exist, then that’s good news. Not really an ugly duckling, colourful and it’s running on steel rails !
Love how it’s dwarfed by the hopper car.
…but this is the exTH&B Waterford Sub.
Yes… fine. You’re right. Bad habits of calling it all the Burford Spur.
Rob, I think Mercer is correct, but it is confusing as this spur track starts off as ex-CN Burford Sub,. Somewhere around Clarence St. S and Greenwich I think it morphs into ex-TH&B. Back when I rode on the LE&N there were diamonds over both CN Burford & TH&B Waterford Sub. Never did ride over the Burford Sub, but lucky enough to ride over the Waterford Sub .
I just realised I got the road wrong too… at this point it’s Mohawk Street. Just plain embarrassing.
Rob, just blame the beginning of grey hairs you are getting and be done with it. Joe on the other hand has no excuse
Now might I ask which day exactly this usually happens? Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it in time to see SOR but I feel the track mobile is something worth checking out.
There’s no set day. Whatever day it is they typically run back and forth multiple times. Occasionally there will be a week they don’t run at all.
