Thank goodness for the CN Tower. This landmark was the only clue I had as to where I shot this, and outside help steered me to pinning this location down to somewhere west of Strachan and east of Pirandello St. The view is looking east of course and the structure in the background along with the stacks is the old Toronto Refiners & Smelters lead foundry. This plant closed and faced demolition in the mid-80s and now has finally been cleaned up to allow for future development. In Toronto that usually means glass towers.
Nice old boxcar. Just out of sight behind the caboose should be the Strachan Av watchmans tower if I have this pegged correctly. It was one of the last of the once plentiful railroad crossing structures.

  1. I really like the CP newsprint (paper products) box. A real classic. :-)

  2. Thanks. It IS a classic. Once upon a time I used to see so many of those.

  3. That looks like a train on a simple model layout.
Locomotive, 2 paper service cars, tank car and a van (caboose). It hearkens to a time when one didn’t need to be wealthy or a rivet counter to get a small train set.
