A photo to go with the upcoming season. This picture was taken at the same time, just a few minutes earlier, than my first posting of this frosty day. Please see http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=38412 for my initial frosty post and additional info on No.91. Same passenger train, but, from the other side and shot west of Redwater. I really love the view down the track. The edge of Redwater is not more than a half mile away (the large tower in the background is on the outskirts of town). Although it looks like there are trees in this area, these are actually just the few along the R/W. It is very much open with farms surrounding the town.

    Ah! The perfect winter scene!! The colors of the rolling stock adds such great contrast against the ‘frozen tundra’ of the background! Slightly exaggerated comment? LOL…maybe….nonetheless….GREAT SHOT :)

    During this week back in 1986, it really felt like the arctic. The cold air descended keeping temps around -30° at night and -25° during the day. The first few days produced all this frost, which is easily blown away. A good cold arctic high though, tends to just sit and just be cold, little wind. Thus for almost a week we enjoyed this scenery, with brass monkeys searching for a certain missing body part because of the weather.
