Pacific (4-6-2) 5607 rests outside the Hamilton roundhouse in early 1959. For many years, she was one of the regular engines on trains 173/174 to/from Palmerston and Owen Sound (via Guelph), occasionally operating on the Allandale trains (660-661 and 662-662) when the diesel car was not available. According to Ian Wilson's research ("Steam Echoes of Hamilton" book), the 5607 made her last run to and from Palmerston on November 27, 1958--so this photo was taken only one or two months after she was stored.

  1. Great image. Recently stored, rods removed…The lighting says it here. Lit from the side but the front shadowed…just says set aside and forgotten.

  2. Another wonderful image from Doug Page—thank you for sharing

  3. Probably store serviceable, in case one of those new growlers should fail on the line.
