Railpictures.ca - L. Priest Photo: To complete the first and last of the rebuilt F7a’s, here is the 9179 in the spring of 1983. The 9179 was previously the 9120 before rebuilding in December/74. It will go for B unit conversion in the fall of 1984. The crew has just finished picking up a couple of loaded cars from the elevators and returning back to the train. Of interest is the lack of yellow reflective strip below the zebra stripes. Also, and less noticeable, are some of the changes made on the front for snowplow service. The most obvious of these being the semi transparent number boards, only going to see those numbers at night. Another nice bonus is the 2 white flags flapping. Typically at this time, it was 2 sticks with some white left around the shaft. The rest of the flag either torn or flapped off. Please see my neighbouring photo for the rest of the caption. Whoops, did it again, so involved looking up F7 history I forgot to mention that is the 9172 trailing in the caption.

I must thank the moderators for accepting these photo’s. It has been a thrill posting them. In short time from when these pictures were taken, many of the F7′s never traveled the rails on the Coronado Sub. again. It does seem funny to say this, but, I have a monotonous number of 9167 shots. It becomes the same old, same old. It has been great posting these odd balls from my collection.
