What’s interesting is when CN/Metrolinx triple-tracked the Halton Sub through here, instead of replacing that older concrete arch bridge or building a newer and wider span, they built a matching extension to the south (seen here) for the third track.
Hmmm looking underneath the bridge by the shadow I can see that, very interesting Dan and thanks for that! Gotta look out for it again next time im in downtown!
Probably would’ve costed them quite a bit less as well!
Some moderate changes are coming there now as well. Not necessarily railway related but 2 new 25 storie apartment buildings will be going right next to the OBRY by Park st. Denison crt (where the Dixie Cup Spur was) has been ripped up and is being expanded as a road to join Haggart Ave and I wonder what will become of the location of Georgia Pacific as that plant permanently closed late last year?
Speaking of which, do you happen to have any more shots of CN on Dixie Cup Spur before its demise? If so any chance you can maybe post them on here or even maybe Flickr (if they arnt as great) at some point when you get some free time? I’ve just always been quite interested in that Spur in general and hope to eventually see more photos of it before it fell into disuse. Quite a few other I know are also interested in it.
The shots you posted earlier are great as well and so far the only existing photos on the Internet I believe of it in service. Was likely originally built a decade or so earlier than most other spurs in GTA as well as industries really got big in the late 60s and early 70s I believe.
