A lot of folks think these were used only as yard engines, but many were also used on CP for Roadswitchers & Wayfreights. I started my railway career on CP in 1973 working with 6589 or 6590, which are similar unis to 6553. We used one on the Roadswitcher jobs that mostly switched Woodstock ON yard and one on the Port Burwell wayfreight. They were mostly gone & replaced with SW1200RS or RS-23s by mid 1974.
