Caption: Bayview Meet: CP M636's 4717, 4724 and 4707 are in charge of a westbound freight exercising trackage rights over CN from Canpa to Hamilton, and appear to be paused at Bayview Junction waiting for the chance to head onto CP's Hamilton Sub nearby (bound for Aberdeen or Kinnear Yard?). At the same time, VIA #73 sneaks on by with F40PH-2D's 6441 and 6412 leading, about to start the climb up the Dundas Sub.
VIA 6441 would have been brand new at the time, part of VIA's final order of F40 units built in 1989. 6412 was part of VIA's first order built a few years earlier in 1986. Note the ex-CP stainless steel baggage-dormatory car in use ahead of the old ex-CN blue & yellow cars, and absence of a steam generator car (VIA's F40's were delivered with HEP, so needed to run with a SG car or SG-equipped F-unit to provide steam heat to the older passenger cars in the colder months, something likely not needed on a mid-May day such as this).

Fabulous Dan! Fascinating to contemplate what still exists from the equipment shown; VIA 6412 and VIA 6441 (albeit rebuilt by CAD as F40PH-3′s w/separate HEP) and possibly the ex CP baggage-dorm car. What else has changed at Bayview in thirty years?
Ooooooh nice.
A very early Starlight perhaps??
