Caption: Goderich-Exeter Railway (GEXR) train 516 is viewed crossing busy Ottawa Street in Kitchener on the Huron Park Spur. During this time, the crossing gates here did not properly function and all movements had to be protected by a member of the crew. This practice continued into the CN takeover, which was less than a couple months away. That morning, 516 was ordered from Stratford with GEXR GP40-2L(W) 3030 and QGRY GP38-2 2008. The train operated to Kitchener to set-off and lift traffic at the bustling interchange with Canadian Pacific. To the right of the units was the newly completed ION Light Rail network that would eventually begin operations in June 2019.
