Ontario has grain elevators too! Here's one of the few remaining old style elevators left in Ontario located beside railway. Ayr is steeped in rural roots but is quickly becoming a bedroom community. After T69 performed a lift of grain cars off the Pit spur the train is blasting off with 3 GP38-2's for London. Above the purple wildflowers at right is what remains of this elevator complex, here's a Mooney pic from 18 years ago to compare the elevator before it was repainted. Most of the complex in Mooneys photo has now been torn down.

  1. Nice shot Steve.

When I drove by the old Schneider’s entrance two weeks ago, it was now all fenced off.

  2. Tx. Really, I wonder what they are going to do here.

  3. I saw the fencing yesterday, so you can’t use or park on the roadway anymore as it’s all private property. Seems development is about to occur. I also bet they put in major permanent fencing here too but we’ll see.

  4. Townhomes going up. Didn’t take long.
