Caption: For the first time, one of CP's brand new SD70ACUs was put in the lead position on a coal train. As luck would have it (for me anyway!) it happened to be on a train destined for Prince Rupert, handed off from CP to CN at Kamloops. Here we see CP SD70ACU 7002 leading train C741 east at Mile 103 of CN's Albreda Sub between Lempriere and Clemina West. The train will eventually turn west at Harvey, east (north) of Valemount, BC for the remainder of the run to Prince Rupert.

where did the train originate? Is this a regular move from CP to CN to Rupert?
Kick ass!
This train originated at Line Creek, BC just outside of Sparwood. The port at Roberts Bank is at and has been at capacity for quite some time so CP sends a half dozen or so of their loaded coal trains to Prince Rupert for unloading each month. The 7000s are to be tested in coal service for the time being so hopefully this is the sign of things to come!
Beautiful shot! Fingers crossed some of these eventually make it into Ontario.
Looks like a publicity shot, Tim!
Very nice Tim!
Awesome!!
Better.
Awesome Tim!
Awesome indeed!
I can’t wait to see the 10 that will be painted in a maroon & grey “Heritage” scheme. Word out here is that 5 will have script lettering and 5 will have block lettering.
