Caption: Toronto Transit Commission Canadian Light Rail Vehicle 4085 heads west on the TTC’s 506 Carlton line, at the corner of Gerrard and Blackburn, trundling down Gerrard Avenue. These Canadian Light Rail Vehicles were constructed by Bombardier-predecessor Urban Transportation Development Corporation (UTDC) from 1978 through 1981. After nearly 40 years of service (beginning on September 30, 1979), the CLRVs will be retired soon – probably by the end of 2019. The iconic CLRV is seen passing an equally, if not more, iconic Tim Hortons! (August 30, 2019)

Well, technically the CLRVs are only being taken off from the Rt.501 Queen’s Long Branch runs, which is (was) one of the final routes they see service on. They’ll still be used on the Rt.506 Carlton until at least November, and Rt.511 Bathurst (so get them while you guys can!).
The ALRV’s however will all be retired after the final runs on Labour Day Monday (September 2nd).
You are correct, MrDan. It appears that I misunderstood those who informed me that these CLRVs were ceasing operations on Route 501. I’d correct the caption, but I haven’t figured out how to do that on this site yet…
Craig, there should be a link to the DB Editor email address around here somewhere, but if you just post the corrected caption below, I can go in as an admin and change it (and delete the correction comment here after it’s made) *EDIT: corrections made, photo caption updated!*
(Thanks, MrDan!)
