Caption: By the time we reached this location, the sunshine was all gone.
Here, the train has come through the Battle River valley (just past where the train disappears), and is about to crest the hill. CN uses the former Canadian Northern routing through this area to get down to Ferlow Junction (probably not a junction at the time) in the valley. They stayed in the valley and proceeded SE. Grand Truck Pacific also came through here, but rather than crawling in and out of the valley, they constructed a huge wooden trestle across the depression. That trestle would end about where the last of the train can be seen. With the formation of CNR, the GTP trestle was abandoned, and the line was built to connect the tracks seen here to Ferlow Junction in the valley.
