Caption: CN 566 had timed out the night before, and sat in Elmira all day on Tuesday. I know a number of people took advantage of this and went to grab some shots of it during the day. I wasn't able to make it during the day on account of work, so figured I could at least go there and get some night shots as this is a location I had been curious to see for some time, but had yet to check out. I talked to a plant employee at Lanxess before taking shots just so they wouldn't wonder why I was lurking in the parking lot at night, and then had fun trying some different exposure settings for around half an hour in total before calling it a night. The three lights in the background proved to be a bit of a challenge for the 50mm lens (showing a bit of flare in other locations in the image), so I switched over to the 55-250 which for whatever reason handled it better. This was taken around 2130.

Wow! Now that’s dedication!
Really nice scene James. I hope this happens to 566 again.
@Keith, I’ve been out way later even just in Hamilton. Not much in the way of interesting nights shots here until midnight or so. I was home and in bed by 11pm for this one. Not too bad. At least I didn’t have to stake out the actual run of 566, which yes, I would consider to be some serious dedication haha.
@Jason, thanks! I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect that it will. I recall a shot from Kevin Flood earlier of a 566 somewhere on the Waterloo Spur that was unable to make it back within the window.
Nice shot!
James, you did it again, beautiful night shot, and the first time I have seen a picture of post-GEXR CN activity in Elmira. Thank you for taking the time and being so patient to capture this shot.
Thanks Matthew and railwayguy
