A photo to go with my last post. Almost the same spot, but, 34 years earlier. In my 2019 photo, I am closer to where the hoppers are and a little further away from the track. No SD40's allowed back then, the big power in 85 were the GP38's. Speaking of 85 and Eric Mays recent post and mention of 80lb rail. The mailine here is 85lb rail and the elevator track in the foreground is 60lb spaghetti rail. Hefty stuff :-) In this photo the 1078, 1069 and 1075 are passing through Redwater at 11:00 and headed for the air base at Cold Lake.

  1. Excellent, just excellent!

  2. This is an absolute gem.

  3. Awesome!
    Classic prairie scene

  4. Love the L.Parks oldies. Classic.

  5. Thank you for all the wonderful comments. :-)
A few years have been spent figuring out Nikon scanner lingo and TIF photo editing. Lately, it has been cameras, RAW files and their editing. I’m still a work in progress, although, with comments like those below, I feel I am close to giving these photos the presentation they deserve. Go figure, it is more than click the button and post.

I see I have a typo in the caption. It should read “In my 2018 photo,” not “2019 photo”.

  6. Such classic pictures from an area where i was born and raised!! You ever think of putting these up on Trainorders.com?

  7. The trainorders photographers (the good ones) should be posting here too :)

The difference is we don’t cost money :)

  8. After typing in several replies and erasing them. My comment will be “no comment”. It just is not worth my time and the frustration. I’ve better things to do. :-)

  9. Totally understandable…..

  10. Hello bcr_766 :-)
A short note to say thank you very much. I wish I could pay you back with a photo of the elevators being switched at Bon Accord. But someone, in the several instances of driving by when spotting was being done, never had a camera with him.
