In reality photography is about one thing - "f/8 and be there". Of all the moments you capture, what did you enjoy the most and were you satisfied with the outcome? This is one of mine. I drove straight here without consultation of anyone after taking some time off work to get this and I was not alone - 11 people were on the low perch of dirt at Desjardins and 1 with me on the high mound for a drone-like view (without the drone). We all had the same idea. Capturing the best train in the best location requires only one thing.

Photo notes: 165mm f/8.

  1. nice pic Sir Stephen

  2. Love the quote Steve.. but wait.. tell us abut the train!! Obviously I was in the dark on this one.

  3. Thanks Snake, Brad. As for what this was : It was all over our site back then.. dozens of photos already posted :) this was CP’s “Canada 150″ train.

  4. Great scene Steve.

  5. Love the anniversary train..but my eye gets drawn to the turnouts! Great work as always.

  6. The turnouts.. the “new” third track bridge installed (but no track). This will change a lot over the next few months as the new track is installed all the way from Bayview. Apparently going in this summer.

  7. It appears in Google Satellite that the track is installed over the bridge. Over the canal right?

  8. Correct, the rest of the plant is being installed ‘now’ over next 1-2 months
