Caption: Well, this felt like learning industrial Hamilton all over again. I was exploring the industrial trackage south of Sarnia along the St. Clair River, when I stumbled upon CSX stopped north of Lasalle Line. Soon after, they started moving northbound, and I started guessing at where they would go next and more importantly where I could get proper light on them. Luckily, in the age of Google Maps, I quickly found this spot in Aamjiwnaang First Nation which was the right orientation to the light, and offered a nice, open vantage point. A quick Google search after getting home showed me I am not the only RP contributor with a shot at this location, as Stephen Host posted one in 2017 as well.

So this was where you were instead of the Bayview meet. I was wondering, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. I was just in Sarnia and you tend to end up where I was and to you, distance is not a problem
Glad you got this. BTW – Windsor is just a couple hours down the 401 keep going.
Haha I was actually going for 514 today but best I can tell it did not run. Got a CP eastbound in Tilbury and thought about keeping going to Windsor but decided Sarnia offered the likelihood of much more action so I meandered north. Checked out the municipally owned tracks, then followed the St. Clair River into town.
Still.. all that way for the 514… you are dedicated… I just can’t do it… not even from Sarnia.. just not worth it for me. I’d rather go elsewhere.
Don’t forget Marc Dease as well. He’s captured some great photos at this location. @Jamie Knott….you’re correct. 514 didnt run today. Rumour is tomorrow. Not confirmed. Ever since CN ‘shook things up’ with 438/439….well…great photo Jamie! I someday soon hope to also be successful in photographing the CSX in or around Sarnia.
@ Mr. Host….well…Sarnia isn’t as lucky of a place to shoot either. Seems everytime I go it rains. Childhood memories were a busier and better time. Nowadays….just sad. Howecer it is where the action is. And I’d rather shoot the CN or CSX up there any day of the week on the ‘mainline’ rather than here in Chatham on the ‘secondary’ line lol….but as I did a year ago too…invite is always open if you do swing down this way. Sometimes it’s not for the trains….but meeting other photographers.
Todd that’s what todays Bayview meet was for about 50 to 60 people showed up.
Oh apologies to Marc I did not realize that. I googled “Aamjiwnaang First Nation CSX railpictures” when I got home to see if anyone else had shot them here. Only returned a result for Steve’s shot.
This may also help in Sarnia:

Clifford St is the place to go for photos of parked power, if any are available (they have enough power for two jobs, and two jobs are on duty most weekdays and some weekends)
