Caption: The other day I posted a shot of CP coming off of the Hamilton Sub and onto the CN Stamford Sub at CN Robbins, well here is a picture of CN L562 coming off of the Hamilton Sub and back onto the CN Stamford Sub, except this is the west leg of the connecting track at CN Robbins West. After making a rather large setoff at Feeder (I'd say at least 40 cars), the crew of 562 went back to Port Rob light power and the CEFX 1023 led the way back home. As they were arriving at Feeder, it was rather interesting to see a CEFX unit trailing on a CN train on CP track. Oh the wonders of Niagara Region.
The setoff for Trillium was mostly grain hoppers for Port Colborne - presumably for ADM and/or the Port Colborne Grain Terminal. I believe traffic for the Robin Hood mill largely (exclusively?) originates off of CP and is only when the shipping season is closed.
You might think I am crazy for all of the railfanning I do in Niagara, and perhaps rightfully so. I do find all of the old odds and ends of track quite fascinating (i.e. fragments of the CASO, fragments of the Cayuga, etc.), and enjoy the regularity at which CP trains run on CN tracks, and vice versa. It also has the added appeal of the fact that the odds are usually in my favour of being the only one to catch any given movement, such as seeing this CEFX unit leading back to Port Rob. That certainly contributed to why I enjoy the area so much as well. And there are a lot of generally quiet places in which to railfan, away from the usual hustle and bustle. Which is a nice return to familiar surroundings for a guy who grey up in a small town and now lives in a city.
It was raining while 562 was at Feeder, but the clouds slowly gave way to the faintest amount of sunlight as it returned back to home territory, which I was grateful for. Of course, as I was driving back to Hamilton it was full sun the whole way. Figures.

I should have noted in the caption that at the signals furthest away, you can see a green light for CP 246 which was southbound on it’s way out of Welland on the Hamilton Sub for Fort Erie, via the Stamford Sub. 246 was shortly behind 562.
Great shot James! I like the searchlight signals all around. Love train shots with searchlight signals!
