I love the nostalgia of these of F’s but how is it for the engineers switching with them?
Not so much the Engineers but the Conductors. Steps are high and more difficult to use compared to a Geep, the compromise on OSR was to use a f/gp9, but naturally, they still operate them in pairs.. at least this is what OSR crews explained to me. Who’se the dude at the next crossing?
If you’re in the area, these units are fairly common to see; but this is part of that old adage: Don’t take them for granted.
When these units go to pasture there are going to be a lot of fans complaining of all the time they had to shoot a pair of ‘F’s, and they passed up.
Hats off to the OSR, of course. Great roster.
