As an initial one-unit sample order, CP's first C424 (and the first C424 ever built by MLW or Alco) had a few differences from other CP units, including the fuel tank, dynamic brake hatch, rear radiator style, hood details, battery boxes around the cab, deck-mounted stanchions, and a higher-mounted headlight that was originally on the flat plate of the cab (4201-4209 were also delivered with high-mount headlights, but units 4210 and over had it on the nose). In the mid-late 60's, the early units with high headlights all had them relocated to the nose, as seen here.
