Just over 40 years ago, the west end of an eastbound freight is shown with brakes applied as the unknown train slows for the diamond at Doncaster on CN's York Subdivision. Interesting features in this photo include brake shoe smoke, open bi and tri-level auto racks, and of course the caboose. Also of interest is the railways' ability back then to load trucks on the top deck of tri-levels.
