Well its 2019 and here we have a pair of SD40-2W's out on the mainline. The classic pair of London built GMDs work their guts out hauling ballast loads into Biggar. The ballast may be part of the double-tracking project going on in the area, the beginnings of which are visible in the foreground.

    The 5276 certainly has that well used look. I’ve never painted any kind of rail car, it sure seems that it would be quite challenging trying to recreate that weathered look on a model. My hat is off to those who have tried. :-) Nice light and fresh green for your photo Matt, super. Hey, I thought there were no hills in Sask. LOL.

    Awesome shot! So I have a question about the Herzog hoppers: What are those panels on the topside of the hopper? Are they like a solar panel? I noticed that on some CP ballast hoppers on the Scotford sub too. Can anyone fill me in?

    They are indeed solar panels, probably for the control side of actuators that open the doors.
