It's not Donner Pass, however 3054 still sounded good as it hauled Goderich-Exeter Railway train 431 up the Niagara Escarpment approaching the Hamlet of Limehouse heading west to Stratford.

  1. That’s some serious green going on there. :-)

  2. where are the auto racks servicing on this run ?

  3. Empties for Toyota Cambridge, these cars will go to CP at South Junction (yard, interchange) on the CN Huron Park Spur / CPR Waterloo sub for loading. These should be for automobiles destined for points east off CPR (ie: Halifax).

For the longest time GEXR Only handled loaded cars east and the empties were routed by other means, but some years ago the empties were routed back from where they came and it continues to this day. Because these cars are quite hot it makes the Huron Park Spur and CPR interchange a busy place often getting two switches per day, under both GEXR and now under CN.

  4. Thanks for the comments guys.

Yes, as Steve said, Kitchener interchange is a busy place. CN L568 made two runs down last Sunday to lift all the CP traffic and bring back to the yard for A431.

  5. in November GEXR would send a train from Stratford to Kitchener CPR.. only to be followed by 580 down the same way.. it’s a hot place :)

I believe CP goes to the interchange twice a day too. Good chance of a side by side.
