CN RS18 3855 leads two leased Bessemer & Lake Erie F-units on a freight heading over the Cooksville Creek bridge around Mile 11.8, to the west of "Lakeview" on CN's Oakville Sub. CN had a number of B&LE 700-series F7A's and F7B's on lease in the mid-60's, as did CP.The Lakeview mileboard/station name sign was to the east of here at Mile 11.1. The area had a few sidings to a Department of National Defense facility off Cawthra & Atwater, as well as a long spur to the Ontario Hydro/HEPC Lakeview Generation Station. It disappeared from CN timetables sometime between 1965 and 1967, replaced by the new "Port Credit East" at Mile 11.5.

  1. That Department of National Defence installation must have been quite important at one time. I was in there in the 1980′s picking some Customs forms and I recall there were a number of tracks inside.
wonder if had been the storage facility for the nearby Small Arms factory and the Gunnery range.

  2. Canadian Munitions ? and/or Defence Plant ?

  3. There’s a small writeup on the property in the Mississauga heritage link below. It was the Department of National Defense’s No.15 Regional Ordnance Depot:
