Thru 1986-1987 was the transition period for VIA, in which those new F40s were beginning to replace those cab units I enjoyed so much. I made numerous trips to Parry Sound hoping to catch a few of the 6500s before they were demoted or retired for good. This was an example of how things were by the spring of 1987. The new power was up front, the old trailing. Seen here, VIA 6407, 6635 and 6504 with the southbound section of the Canadian due for Toronto; a rather healthy train, stopped at the Parry Sound CP station. The modern version of this train, a shadow of its' former self, now stops in Parry under cover of darkness.
