A GM day at Snider. 894 for Montreal heads through the connecting track from the Halton Sub with an SD70M-2 and 2 SD75's for power. They will be followed out by 541 with 2 GP9's; still going after 60 years.

  1. CN 541? I know that this train transfers onto the Newmarket sub to switch imperial oil daily. To be honest, I have been trying to catch this train since the year 2013 but without any luck. Do you have any idea when this train runs? I heard that it (sometimes?) runs during daytime but I have stumbled on to it a few times between 11:00 and 11:30 PM while heading for home.

  2. Hi Dan’ caught it at 1140, and it did, indeed, head down for Esso.

  3. Thanks Dave! I guess you can’t really be sure when these EXTREMELY elusive local trains that service the Newmarket sub run.

Speaking of these locals; train 545 which runs on the Newmarket sub north of the York subdivision “often” makes it’s bi-weekly (as far as I know) trips on Mondays and Thursdays. It usually interchanges onto the Newmarket sub at around 11 to 11:30 AM and arrives at the MacMillan yard by 3:00 PM. At least that’s what I have observed over the years… :)

  4. 545 was working at the same time; was parked north of Snider waiting for GO’s to clear.
