Is CN 3171 new or just repainted? Note the difference in radiator geometry between 3171 and 3862.
Nice !
3862 is an ES44AC and 3171 is a ET44AC, so that might explain the difference. They’re both part of the order of 200 from GE.
Now compare this shot with James Gardiner’s: http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=36817 a day later!! Both great work btw.
To expand on James’ comment (thank you), CN 3862 is a Tier 3 ES44AC (Tier 4 certified), and CN 3171 is a Tier 4 ET44AC. They are indeed different. Both models are currently being built at the GE (now Wabtec) plant in Fort Worth, TX.
