Caption: CN G12 992 is seen in London in 1966. This unit was originally purchased by the London & Port Stanley Railway from GMD London and delivered in July 1957 as L&PS L5, following an earlier unit purchased in September 1955 and numbered L4. The EMD/GMD G-series were export models, and smaller in size and clearance profile than a standard North American 4-axle locomotive at the time.
When CN purchased L&PS in 1966, the two units were renumbered 991 & 992, eventually being repainted into CN colours. In 1969 both G12's were sent west and worked CN's Vancouver Island operations in BC for a number of years. Around early 1976 both were sent east to CN's Newfoundland operations and ended their lives serving as parts units for the fleet of narrow-gauge G8's on the island.

Wow this one is odd. Nice catch. I thought it was a Faribanks-Morse unit or something. And a CN noodle on the side to boot!
