Caption: During a visit to the Algoma Central Railway to ride some of its passenger trains, a visit to Steelton Yard in Sault Ste. Marie finds Winsconsin Central SW1500 1564 sitting alone in the yard. ACR was owned by Wisconsin Central at the time, and seeing WC power was a common occurrence (this was two years before the CN takeover).
This unit was originally built by EMD in 1971 for the Kentucky & Indiana Terminal Railroad (K&IT), and went on to work for Southern, Norfolk Southern, Wisconsin Central and finally CN where 1564 remains active today painted in the current CN livery.
