I was out doing my usual in the north end of Hamilton - the 0700 CN job was down the hole and TH31 was about to join the fray as well. From the scanner I could tell it was pretty busy over on the mainline, and soon I heard mention of 149 at Tansley. Given that I rarely, if ever, see westbound stacks (I missed all those X187s and I'm never typically out late enough for 149) I got over to Snake as quickly as I could as I thought this could be a fun change of pace. When I got there I was worried I had missed it, but after maybe five minutes or so the headlights appeared. I zoomed in to see what was coming at me and saw a couple cowls on approach and was pretty happy I'd made the choice to check it out. I got my shots and then not long after got the word out that there was an awfully nice 149 coming for anyone else west of here.

  1. forget the branches James, the mainline is hot as crud right now. All the new locomotives are tied up out west and all the junk is floating in or area, multiple great consists every day.

This is about as good as it gets (like in the 2006 FPON era where a CN leader was the exception, not the norm).

It’ll only be like this for as long as winter remains bad, so a month. Maybe.

By summer it’ll be back to GEVO city.

  2. Nice catch with the two Draper’s on a daylight 149 Jamie.

Host, I don’t like the sounds of a GEVO city…;)
