Almost exactly 27 years after the photo date, I scanned the negative, touched up the image, wrote a caption and submitted to RPca. Southern Ontario was having a fairly easy winter into first part of January 2019, but experiencing plenty of snow and cold in the second half.
After checking with maps and streetview, I am confident that this photo shows an eastbound train approached Maitland Street grade crossing in London ON. It will reach CP’s Quebec Street Yard about 0.4 miles (3 grade crossings) ahead.
