2117 is on point as three 4-axle units work the yard in Garnet on a beautiful early spring day. 3403 had recently been sent to the GEXR, 3404 had been sent to Railcare in Hamilton a couple of days prior, and 6908 was still a little ways away from joining the fray - making for a brief window with no 6-axle units kicking around Garnet during this particular era of SOR. The previous day saw just the two trailing units pictured here (2111 and 3049) working the yard long hood forward.

  1. 2117 sure didn’t last long before it blew up! Glad you shot the all Geep set also!

  2. Woah I was actually just thinking about this shot and wondering how soon after the arrival off the 2117 it was! Right before you posted that comment. Crazy. Do you remember when 2117′s arrival was after the rebuild?

  3. 2117 arrived in February – around Feb 1 or 2 – usually new units end up at the shop for final touches – hotplates, microwave, fridges, etc (cheaper to do it yourself) – likely released in the second or third week of March – it had break ins in Hamilton first – I shot it on March 16th and 17th down in the hole in Hamilton. Then over to SOR Hamilton, blown up and back to DES in Sudbury for warranty work. Returned to SOR and transferred to GEXR mid November. Photos of 2117 in Hamilton and/or on GEXR Guelph sub will be rare.
