Talk about an Alco paradise! At least that is what it was around the Cartier engine facilities in Port Cartier back in 1981. It seemed they were everywhere. This general image shows a long row, unfortunately not sure of the numbers, but behind CART 31 is 74 (in green), then 41, 79, 43 and 81 I think. I do know the #43 is in the CN stripes, as is the #47 peeking out the doorway. On the left is 68 and 67, the rest unidentified. On the right is a string of "alligators", 94 and a bit of 95 visible, out of sight are 92,93,91 and 96 in that order. Not an easy place to visit, but sure was a thrill once you got permission to be in there.

  1. was 43 an ex CN unit? only 1981 and it they had already purged it ?

Some of these puppies ended up on WNY&P I guess.

  2. Yeah, QCM scooped up a bunch of CN M636′s in 1976. Not sure why CN sold them so early.
