Caption: Fresh from the GMD London assembly plant, brand new CN SD40-2W units 5346 and 5347 sit in CN's yard in London awaiting their first assignment - with not a speck of dirt on their plow, fuel tank and trucks from regular service. The two were part of an order of 30 units (5324-5353, GF30t class) built in Apr/May of 1980, and all of CN's SD40-2's bought new came equipped with the CN-designed Canadian Safety Cab (the only railway to order SD40's so equipped). The yellow-painted center bearings were to denote axles with "increased lateral clearance", likely for less wear on tighter track curvature.
