Highly unusual that there are no Ford parts cars on 421?
Yeah they’re usually riding up front! And I quite enjoy those cars (big part of why I like 421 and 422 so much) – usually some gems in there. I was even more disappointed/puzzled when I didn’t see any on 422 either. Maybe things slow down there for the long weekend.
?? None on 422 either? That is strange. As far as I know Ford is not down for retooling as that normally happens in the summer. Perhaps missed connections ?
perhaps an Aldershot turn extra will run later today. Friday. end of week – you never know
I just went through some shots of mine of both from the past year – my conclusion is I don’t think this is as rare as we are making it out to be. Have definitely seen both of them without the parts cars a number of times this year.
Have to respectfully disagree with you jknott86. I have runs these trains over my years at CN and saw them on an almost daliy basic. Plus saw the transfers that brought the parts cars across the border.
Of course there are days where they may not have parts cars, but the norm is Ford parts on the head end.
Thought the ford plant was on shutdown right now.
@ngineered4u, Sorry, I may have worded that poorly. I definitely agree that the parts cars up front are the norm!
when @ngineered4u talks = railfans stop and listen
Ford has been shut down for the past week due to quality control issues due to the quality of automotive parts brought in, this has also affected a number of finished vehicles at the lot waiting to go. Ford plans to restart the line next week, if all goes according to plan.
Thanks CNCNDR. That explains a lot There you have it boys
There’s been no autopart cars on either train since mid August
