The era of RaiLink in Ontario gave us some rather remarkable paint schemes. A study in contrast is this pair sitting near the former CP station in North Bay. Freshly painted RLK 4200 (GP 9)and RLK 2000 (GP 38) could hardly appear much different with their clashing dress coats. The 4200, an old SP, was scrapped by a broker in 2008. Last I heard of 2000 was that it had been working around Brantford later on that year. What happened to it? Anyone know?

  1. 2000 became RLK 3873 and is now running around as RLHH 2081. It should be down in Nanticoke currently!

  2. Oh, confuse me, RLHH!!!! These guys and their numbers. Thanks, Joe.

  3. Interesting story on the lineage of 2081 guys! I had no idea. That maroon and silver look is pretty slick.. kinda wish it wore those colours.

  4. Maroon and silver 2000 is painted that way because it was a lease to upstart NH and Vermont Rly. Its also why it had the plow blade on the rear, since it was their only big road engine.
The former MEC 258 looks good, as Jazz said, in use as RLHH 2081.

  5. This is a great shot of 4200. I pulled out my photo of the last time I saw it running on October 4 2008.. which may be the last shot of it in service. It was parked after a shift less than a week later (possibly on this day actually) and scrapped where it was left..
