CN is back after 21 years … back on the Hagersville Subdivision and its namesake town! The Hagersville Subdivision and, in particular, Hagersville - Garnet areas have been abuzz these past several weeks as CN personnel and contractors actively prepared for Sep 18th.
CN 580, on its inaugural day freight, and powered by CN 9543, CN 9675 & CN 9473 is seen easing its way through major historic rail territory which may not be so obvious today. With comparison to photo id 29044 captured by Bill Thomson, the diamond, interlocking tower, CASO double trackage and now the station are gone. (In this sense, please enter this 2018 photo into the Time Machine in conjunction with Bill's 329044) A portion of the foundation of the CASO Hagersville interlocking and pole are visible to the left of nose of CN 9543 and note the shallow grave site where the Station stood until this week. CN 9543 is about to hit the diamond at least in my dreams. JMX's Demolition Cat can be seen huddled in the background awaiting the next mission. JMX Construction were vacated the compound just minutes before the arrival of CN 850 and chain of center-beams destined for Canadian Gypsum. CN's nifty, new tool/coordination structure (2 modular units) appears in the right foreground.  Demolition of the iconic station was necessary given previous fire damage and lack of proper restoration thereafter. A fenced compound is planned for where the station stood and the surrounding area.

  2. Yes – The photo id for Bill’s excellent capture is really 27877. My penned reference made a few years or more ago noted attachment id as 29044 which appears to be the share link id. Sorry for this oversite.

  5. CN crew member advised today that it is a backpack that they found trackside. Young children identify with the backpack and it was placed on CN 9543 simply for the kids enjoyment. Kudos!
