EFCX 1006 is seen here working at a grain elevator just east of Unity Saskatchewan. The paint job and re-numbering are quite recent occurrences. This SD40-3 is a former DLCX, BNSF unit that was originally built as a CN SD40.

  1. Nice photo !
Matt, do you have further details on these G3 renumberings ( such as, where would the 1005 be etc) and is there a 1007 yet??

  2. Thanks.
I believe this number series is a continuation of the one previously used with the reporting marks CWB, like this one Tim shot a few years ago.

This is the only G3 unit I’ve seen so far.

  3. Thanks, I understand the progression. But the last couple, even if not painted as G3, came delivered as EFCX markings.
Can you confirm this is the former 6961 now painted as 1006? Or could it be the former 6991 ?
There would almost have to be a 1005, now or coming shortly, if they’ve done this one as 1006

  4. I’ll be driving by this place again in a couple days, I’ll throw the big glass on and grab the number of the un-repainted unit (its sitting way outback) so we can figure out which one this used to be.

  5. At the new G3 elevator just west of Saskatoon now.
