After closure of the TH&B's Chatham Street roundhouse, for a while in the 1990s, CP motive power in Hamilton was serviced at the former TH&B car shop near Aberdeen Avenue. Here we have GP38-2 3121, GP7u 1682 (rebuilt from TH&B GP7 72), RS18u 1843 and an unidentified C424 waiting for their next assignments. Such power was typical on the Hamilton sub prior to the invasion of SD40-2s and AC4400CWs a few years later.

  1. Very nice! I spent a lot of time there in the late 1990s, early 2000s. Loved shooting the Ham Turns MLW’s and of course ex TH&B #72.

  2. Ahhh the SD-40′s….but those RS18s were a nice catch also. Too bad I didn’t take photography of these classics seriously back then…!
