Caption: While city officials tried to lighten the mood, this day and event for railroaders and railfans alike was a sad affair. July 14, 2011 marked the last day of rail service to the town of Collingwood. Barrie - Collingwood's GP9 #1000 ran to the end of serviceable track in town, stopping for a short celebration of the towns railroad history before the train and crew returned to work lifting tank cars from the last two customers in town, later retracing its steps back to Utopia for the very last time. It was several weeks since the train originally dropped the cars in town and that type of service can not justify a lines survival. Today most of the rails to Collingwood are still intact but the possibilities of rail service ever returning is very slim.

Unfortunately it looks like most of the rails have been lifted.
I sorry to hear that. I haven’t been up in a year.
Some have been removed. Other sections are intact but totally overgrown with evergreens and weeds. The signals are still standing in Stayner but have not seen action in years. The rail is old and very light so probably uneconomical to even make the effort to reclaim it.
Yes
It definitely appears that in time the line will simply just vanish.
