It’s Christmas week 1986 and just before boarding the TerraTransport Roadcruiser Bus to Gambo to visit his girlfriend, the photographer captured this bevy of beautiful NF210′s outside the Victorian Era Station in the St. John’s Yard. According to former railroader-turned-businessman Peter Byrne, the lights are dimmed on NF210 # 915 so as not to create a glare on the roadway in front of the Newfoundland Railway Shops. The 915 and sister 917 were the only two of the series to wear the small bi-directional TT arrow near the top of the hood, black side cabs and a white skirt stripe when repainted in 1979. Ironically, it was the Roadcruiser that replaced the trans-island passenger train ‘Caribou’and spelled the beginning of the end of the narrow gauge railway in 1969.
