CP 9547 (AC4400cw) and CP 8603 (AC4400cw), both equipped with GE steerable trucks, are pulling train CP 142  upgrade north on the CP Hamilton sub with the assistance of pusher set CP 2211, CP 7307, CP 2292. The front end is seconds away from the Parkside Drive grade crossing in Waterdown North. A few miles ahead the train will have completed the steepest part of the ascent from Lake Ontario level to Lake Erie level.  The pushers will cut off and return light to Hamilton, while 142 continues to CP Guelph Junction and beyond. 
CP 9547 is from CP's original 1995 batch of AC4400's that began CP's change from an SD40-2 dominated railway.  These 9500's were not equipped with steerable trucks when new, and were delivered in the CP Rail System dual flags scheme which proved unpopular on both sides of the border.

  1. I sure like this photo. The CP has been using the same 3 GE’s over the last week to bring in long trains from the industry east of Edmonton.

  2. Thank you, that is really appreciated. I am a big fan of your work on RPCA, can never have too many great pictures of the F7′s.
    I heard about this train on the radio but was late getting to the right spot in Hamilton. Next good spot up the line the sun angle was wrong. So continued up here which worked out. Dark territory north of Hamilton to Campbellville, so you need to know something’s coming.
