Caption: A bad day for trains. The "WP" switcher on a sunny spring morning encountered a washout at mile 349 on the BC Rail Prince George subdivision. Fortunately the locomotives made it over the washout culvert, unfortunately some of the chip cars did not traverse the track that well. The derailment was quite viz-able to the motorists on highway 97. The ultimate cause was done by the Department of Highways destroying a beaver dam on Hill Road. When the offending dam was dynamited, the sudden water flow overwhelmed the culvert on the railway right of way, causing a washout. No train crew injuries, the beaver was left homeless and moved elsewhere.
