Steve's recently posted photo of the Orangeville-Brampton Railway (http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=32523) mentioned CCGX 1000, but did not mention CCGX 1001. I'll admit I was confusing the Orangeville-Brampton Railway with the Barrie-Collingwood Railway, both operated by Cando Contracting. We found CCGX 1001 and 1000 in Barrie, ON on August 2, 1998. CCGX 1001 was still in patched Ohio Central paint, being former OHCR 94, originally built as B&O 6594. GGCX 1000 was built as QNSL 157 and appears to still be in their grey paint. GGCX 1000 is apparently now owned by Coco Paving in Millhaven, ON. I don't know exactly where this photo was taken in Barrie, ON... I assume the former CN yard before the GO expansion to Barrie.

  1. Nice. Thanks for digging this out.

  2. Nice shot, never seen them painted this way together.

  3. Awesome pic! The early days of the Shortline era in Ontario!

I thought CCGX 1000 was sitting dead out in North Transcona and a CANDO SW1200 was now assigned to Coco Paving in Millhaven ??

  4. RLK2211 – You’re probably correct. I was referring to an old Trackside Guide. Thank you.

  5. #1000 on the QNSL

  6. This looks like it was taken at the north end of the old Allandale yard. Roughly the north end of the current GO platform. Thanks for sharing this. My photos from this time period are not that good.
