In 2011 CN had yet to transfer its switching operations at the CAMI Auto plant in Ingersol to the Ontario Southland. I only managed to catch CN working here a few times and this day catching a GMD-1 I wasn't familiar with in Ontario was a nice treat. The train has left CN rails and is seen traveling over the former CP St. Thomas subdivision for a few miles to the CAMI plant. I sure do miss seeing GMD-1's in operation in Ontario.

  1. Nice catch. Are there many GMD-1s left?

  2. Nice one – I managed a GMD1 on the St. Thomas in 2004.. but my photo is less than ideal :)

They seemed to assign interesting power to this job regularly.

  3. @Colm, yes thee are still a few left around the GTA area. The last ones i saw were working at Mac Yard and BIT coupled up with remote units.

  4. No GMD-1′s working in the GTA presently. All are in the deadline at Mac and I am told have been being used as part sources..

  5. I will have to go check it out in person as I have seen some working, but that may have changed.
