The last of the winter snow is still on the ground as an N&W eastbound moves through Cayuga behind GP38-2 4162 and C30-7 8003. Note that the class lights on the lead engine are lit white--signifying that this is an "extra" running in Manual Block System territory. Prior to the introduction of MBS in the early 1980s, eastbound trains on the Cayuga sub ran under time table schedule authority and westbounds were extras.
