Caption: In September 2011, my wife and I headed east for our honeymoon. With ample time on our side, I managed to visit several locations that I had only seen through other photographer’s images. We both discovered that Halifax can certainly be a challenging city to photograph rail operations, while in the end the few trains I shot were worth the effort as it gave me a different perspective of Canadian railroading.
VIA Rail F40PH-2 6440 and a sister lead the westbound “Ocean” through CN’s Rockingham yard. This train had quietly snuck up on me, so I had to make do with the location. This was the first and only “Ocean” train that I’ve ever photographed.
