Caption: KITTY'S BROOK REVISITED. While obtaining retake photos for my first book project, 'RAILS ACROSS THE ROCK', to match with a 'then' image, it was necessary to traverse pretty much the entire former Newfoundland railway by whatever means possible. On this particular day (July 27,2011) in order to recreate a scene that I had shot some 23 years earlier (see Image 13144) along with others, I drove my truck 300 kms from Conception Bay South to overnight in Gambo and early the next morning another 200 kms to Millertown Junction where I then jumped aboard my cousin's borrowed ATV to ride the remaining 50 kms along the roadbed! Of all my retakes taken along the stretch of railbed that ran over the Gaff Topsails, this was probably the most remote and isolated of them all. (NOTE TO EDITOR - Could you please consider this for the 'Time Machine' to match with Image 13144 taken on 04/16/1988?)

It’s maddening what happened to NFLD’s railway.
I agree Stephen. At the very least we should have kept a tourist line from St. John’s to Avondale or Corner Brook to Deer lake. The railway was in excellent shape at the time of closure. – Ken
